Since 2019 I have served as a scientific advisor to the Portuguese Business Cycle Dating Committee, an independent committee of experts funded by Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos (FFMS).
Business Cycle Dating Committee
The committee is responsible for dating the peaks and troughs of the Portuguese business cycle — the Portuguese counterpart to the NBER and CEPR dating committees.
My contributions include maintaining the underlying database of 500+ macroeconomic indicators and carrying out the time-series analysis behind the committee's decisions. I have also co-authored a series of reports on each Portuguese recession since 1910, written for a general audience.
